Else Olsen S. (1978), pianist and composer, specializing in prepared piano and indeterminate praxis. She is the conductor for The Toy Orchestra, where all musicians are toys.
She has worked with Norwegian performers and composers, like Maja Ratkje, Guro Moe, Sigyn Fossnes, John Hegre and Lene Grenager, but has also worked with American performers and composers, like Pauline Oliveros, Christian Wolff, Fred Frith and Ikue Mori.
As an independent researcher in 06/07, she studied the works of John Cage, Christian Wolff and more, through The Fulbright Foundation, invited by Lincoln Center.
She just completed her artistic research project Open form. An Expanded Performer´s role. at The Grieg Academy. The project is published here.
This November she is performing The Periolus Night by John Cage at the opening of the exhibition Jasper Johns and Edvard Munch: Love, Loss, and the Cycle of Life, at Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
